Project presentation
The project Saveurs en Partage was born from a meeting between five women living in a neighbourhood of the 20th arrondissement of Paris: a retired school headteacher and four women from immigrant backgrounds who are either stay-at-home mothers or working part-time. They observed that there was no environmentally friendly food shop accessible to low-income families in their area.
Faced with this gap and driven by a desire to create their own employment, they launched the Saveurs en Partage project: a local food store located in the “Les Portes du Vingtième” neighbourhood. The shop offers high-quality products from organic farming, fair trade, short supply chains, and bulk sales.
A dual pricing system makes essential goods more affordable (up to a 70% discount) for households receiving social welfare benefits (RSA), most of which are single mothers raising their children alone. The project also includes participatory workshops on health, nutrition, and sustainable development.
This initiative enables the women entrepreneurs to create their own jobs and strengthen their agency, while also improving access to healthy food for families living in precarious conditions.
