Project presentation
In Mali, women often rely on market gardening activities for their livelihoods and are particularly affected by limited economic opportunities. This situation is worsened by the reduction of arable land and difficulties in accessing land ownership.
To address resource scarcity, promote women’s empowerment, and support youth employment, the project “Youth and Employment to Feed Cities” aims to encourage sustainable agriculture and the consumption of locally produced goods.
GRDR Migration-Citoyenneté-Développement and its local partner, the National Union of Family Homes and Rural Centers, support capacity building for young girls in the municipality by providing professional training in agroecology, livestock farming, and sustainable product commercialization. Some participants are also supported in creating income-generating activities.
Additionally, 300 women market gardeners are trained in agroecological production and are encouraged to pass on their new skills to other women in the region. This initiative improves the living conditions of women and their families while contributing to biodiversity preservation.
