Projet soutenu Project supported in 2016 : Empowering women

Project presentation

Since 2013, Planning Familial 62 has been supporting migrant women living in transit camps in the Pas-de-Calais region, many of whom have experienced sexual and gender-based violence throughout their migration journeys.

However, the NGO and association workers providing support are often insufficiently trained on gender and health issues. As a result, migrant women do not receive adequate support regarding sexual and reproductive health concerns. The organisation will organise information workshops on rights, violence and health to refer refugee women to existing public services (contraception, abortion access, etc.). Support workers and field professionals will also be trained and made aware of gender issues and advocacy.

The association

The Planning Familial du Pas-de-Calais (PF62) supports women and works to promote access to rights, sexual health, and the fight against violence against women. The organisation works in particular with women in exile living in transit camps in northern France, raising awareness among field actors and strengthening their ability to respond to issues related to gender, violence and sexual health.
