Project presentation

In France, violence against women with disabilities remains largely underrecognized, and limited resources are in place to address it. However, disability is a factor that increases exposure to violence, particularly psychological violence.

In 2015, the association Femmes Pour le Dire, Femmes pour Agir (FDFA) set up a dedicated helpline for women with disabilities victims of violence, offering tailored solutions adapted to their specific situations. Faced with a steady increase in calls (over 2,000 in 2018), FDFA aims to sustain and strengthen its support through continued telephone helplines, as well as in-person services (psychological, social, legal, and administrative support) and the organization of creative and well-being activities.

The association

The association Femmes Pour le Dire, Femmes pour Agir aims to promote the inclusion of women with disabilities in society, regardless of the nature of their disability, through various means (forums, publications, support groups, workshops, etc.). It fights against all forms of discrimination, and in particular against the double discrimination experienced by women with disabilities—based on both gender and disability—as well as against the violence suffered by 4 out of 5 of them.
