Project presentation

The French agricultural sector still offers limited opportunities for women. Female farmers who wish to manage their own farms face greater challenges than men, particularly when it comes to obtaining loans or participating in decision-making processes.

In response to this situation, ADEAR des Hautes-Alpes launched an action-research project with an agroecology researcher affiliated with the University of Coventry (United Kingdom) to identify possible solutions. A group of women farmers, recognised as an Economic and Environmental Interest Group (GIEE) by the French Ministry of Agriculture in 2017, was created.

The project aims to support them through three main objectives: creating connections between women farmers, promoting greater recognition of their work, and contributing to the development of agroecology across the region.
