Project presentation
Concentrating 8% of France’s reception capacity, particularly in the Lyon metropolitan area, the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region is the second region where refugees and asylum seekers settle in France. Among this displaced population, half are women, most of whom have experienced violence in their country of origin and/or during their migration journey. Once settled, these women face difficulties accessing employment (25% of them are unemployed) and are very often restricted to jobs in cleaning or personal care services, as well as involuntary part-time positions, without their previous experience and qualifications being recognised.
PasserElles Buissonnières, an organisation specialised in supporting women experiencing isolation following exile or illness, aims to support 30 refugee women living in Lyon by helping them identify the various obstacles they face (legal, health-related and social isolation issues), and then highlighting their skills in order to guide them towards chosen employment opportunities.
The project includes individual support provided by a doctor and a legal advisor, group workshops on health, self-confidence and professional training, career discovery meetings and cultural outings. This project will help restore confidence among the women supported, enabling them to gain greater autonomy and promote their skills and expertise.
