Project presentation
In Niger, droughts and floods severely threaten food security for populations who rely mainly on agriculture and livestock farming. Women are particularly affected by a lack of resources, which limits their ability to generate sufficient income to meet their needs.
To address this issue, Empow’Her implements a training program in agroecological practices (production of organic fertilizers, crop rotation, efficient irrigation systems, seed preservation, etc.) for a group of 85 women farmers in the village of Kirkissoye.
These women are also supported in structuring themselves into a cooperative. In addition, 10 women leaders are identified to form a network of ambassadors responsible for promoting good practices within the community. Advocacy actions—particularly on women’s access to land—are carried out with village leaders and local authorities.
This project helps women improve agricultural yields, increase their income, and strengthen their role within their communities.
