Project presentation

The Re-Création project, led in France by the Loba association, was born from the encounter between Franco-Congolese dancer Bolewa Sabourin and Congolese gynecologist-obstetrician Denis Mukwege, recipient of the 2014 Sakharov Prize and the 2018 Nobel Peace Prize. Both share the same observation: traditional psychological support methods are not sufficient for women victims of violence.

In 2017, Bolewa Sabourin traveled to Dr. Mukwege’s Panzi Hospital in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo to develop a mixed therapeutic approach combining dance workshops and group discussions. Following the success of this method in helping survivors express themselves and improve their well-being, Loba decided to implement these dance-therapy workshops in the Île-de-France region (at CHU Plurielles and within the Ikambere association) for women affected by violence and trauma.

Combined with comprehensive support, these workshops enable women to rebuild self-confidence, reconnect with their bodies, and overcome their trauma.
