Project presentation

Work integration organisations welcome an increasing number of people who are far removed from employment and who face significant difficulties with the French language. Their mission of guidance and training is particularly challenged by the difficulties that employees encounter with written communication.

The Plaine Commune area has 307,000 inhabitants, including one quarter of foreign origin. The unemployment rate is high, qualification levels are low, and the number of female single-parent families is particularly significant. Language training opportunities are insufficient and often poorly adapted to the needs and experiences of people undergoing professional reintegration.

The project offers women seeking employment (through supported employment contracts or job searches) professional French language training as well as practical workshops on mobility throughout the Île-de-France region. It responds both to the needs of participants and to those of work integration organisations.

For the language component, weekly workshops combining speaking and writing skills were organised around practical teaching scenarios directly linked to professional situations or job searching. The activities were based on creative materials that encouraged self-expression, creativity and personal empowerment (painting, photography and poetry).

At the same time, participants took part in mobility workshops led by a representative from the RATP and a French as a Foreign Language trainer, helping them gain confidence and autonomy when using public transport.
