An increasing number of migrants welcomed in France face situations of economic hardship, including unemployment and dependence on social benefits. The people supported by GRDR encounter a range of obstacles in developing their professional projects, including limited entrepreneurial skills, a lack of knowledge about the business creation ecosystem and support organisations, and difficulties accessing financial partnerships.
Migrant women face additional barriers to entering the labour market, including limited literacy skills, low levels of formal education, little professional experience and discrimination.
The project aims to support migrant women who are far from employment by promoting their social, professional and economic integration.
Participants receive personalised support as well as both theoretical and practical training in areas such as sewing, managing income-generating activities and literacy. In addition, eight thematic workshops help women identify, recognise and build on their existing skills to support their professional integration.
An "Entreprendre au féminin" (Women in Entrepreneurship) club was created in partnership with the Cité des Métiers to introduce migrant women to the non-profit sector and the social and solidarity economy, while also providing training in job search techniques and employment tools.
The association also organises events to improve awareness among professionals of the challenges surrounding migrant women's professional integration. These include the forum "Associative Dynamics, Social Inclusion and Civic Participation of Migrant Women", bringing together associations, social workers and public institutions.
