Project presentation
Senegal, and particularly the Thiès region, faces a very challenging social context with an extremely high unemployment rate. Many young people, most often young women, drop out of education early due to a lack of financial resources.
To combat poverty and contribute to the sustainable improvement of living conditions for the most vulnerable people, Sukhali has been working with the Centre d’Ecoute et d’Encadrement pour un Développement Durable (CEEDD) since its creation in 2005. As a women’s association, CEEDD contributes to women’s empowerment through free training programmes in three areas: urban agriculture, education and solidarity-based crafts.
The project aims to develop the agricultural sector through the construction of an Exhibition, Experimentation and Exchange Centre (C3E) at the CEEDD site, which will include a processing unit and a storage facility. The objective is twofold: to promote women’s professional integration by developing their agroecological skills (from production to sales), and to enable CEEDD to sustain its activities by diversifying and improving its training programmes.
