Project presentation
In the slums of Nairobi and Kisumu, Kenya, many young girls living on the streets are forced into prostitution to survive.
To help them leave prostitution behind, ECPAT, in partnership with the Kenyan NGO Undugu Society of Kenya, supports them in forming associations where they can meet regularly and discuss the challenges they face in different areas of their lives (health, contraception, drug or alcohol dependency, children’s education, etc.). Depending on their needs, the young women can receive individual social support or be referred to partner organisations.
Once they begin to regain confidence in themselves, they are supported in identifying and developing a new professional project, whether by starting a small income-generating activity or through an apprenticeship with a craftsperson.
