In Togo, climate change and intensive farming are damaging soils and contributing to poverty and rural migration among farmers, particularly in the Savanes region in the north of the country. Despite their key role in local agriculture, women’s contributions remain undervalued (limited access to training and difficulties accessing land ownership).
Terre & Humanisme and its local partner AREJ will train 20 young women from market gardening groups in agroecology and small-scale farm management. These women will receive material and financial support to launch and sustain their activities. They will then raise awareness among members of their groups about these techniques, enabling them to strengthen their role within their communities while contributing to the region’s food security.
