Projet soutenu Project supported in 2016: Empowering women

Project presentation

Although they represent a quarter of the homeless population, women experiencing homelessness in Moscow do not benefit from any dedicated support and are particularly vulnerable. In response to this situation, Samusocial Moskva (Moscow) partnered with the City of Moscow to develop a dedicated medical, psychological and social support programme for homeless women.

Initially, outreach activities are carried out to identify women living on the streets, establish a relationship of trust with them and refer them to municipal shelters. Medical and psychological consultations, as well as therapeutic workshops, are then offered to help women rebuild their lives and develop pathways out of homelessness.

The project also focuses on sharing practices with professionals working in the sector and training students preparing for careers in social work, in order to improve support for homeless women.
