Projet soutenu Project supported in 2015: Empowering women

Project presentation

In Tunisia, despite significant progress in women's rights, economic inequalities remain particularly pronounced in rural areas. Women continue to face major barriers to accessing employment, economic resources and decision-making positions. Many are involved in agriculture or micro-enterprise but lack the resources needed to sustainably develop their businesses and strengthen their economic independence.

To address these challenges, BATIK International launched the SAWA project, which supports women micro-entrepreneurs working in the dairy sector in the governorates of Le Kef and Nabeul. The project combines business management training, support for the creation of cooperatives, and awareness-raising activities targeting local economic stakeholders to promote gender equality. By strengthening participants' skills and improving their access to resources, the project enhances their economic inclusion, increases their income and reinforces their ability to make decisions within their households and communities.
