Project presentation

The From Mother to Earth project aims to highlight and preserve the ancestral ecological knowledge held by women in France’s Overseas Territories—Martinique, Guadeloupe, Réunion and Mayotte—by passing it on to younger generations and to women in vulnerable situations. These practices, which are at risk of disappearing, offer concrete responses to today’s environmental and social challenges.

Through knowledge-sharing workshops, public speaking support, school-based interventions and a symposium held in mainland France, the association helps these women increase their visibility, structure their activities and inspire other pathways to empowerment. The project thus promotes women’s economic autonomy, the preservation of intangible cultural heritage, and the inclusion of women in environmental decision-making processes.

En Terre Indigène
The association

Founded in 2017 by journalist and documentary filmmaker Anne Pastor, En Terre Indigène is a public-interest organisation dedicated to showcasing the richness of Indigenous knowledge, with a particular focus on women. Through documentaries, speaking workshops and advocacy initiatives, the organisation works to strengthen the recognition and transmission of this knowledge while promoting its inclusion in public debate and institutional frameworks. Its actions are carried out both in France and internationally, in close collaboration with local communities.
