Project presentation

By 2030, a part of the French agricultural ecosystem will disappear, as half of the female farmers in France will retire, with no guarantee that their farms or knowledge will be passed on. People who are unfamiliar with the agricultural world but wish to become farmers face many challenges—especially women—due to a certain conservatism in the sector that grants little legitimacy to female farm leaders. Yet, more and more women are pursuing this path and are particularly champions of alternative, sustainable models that protect the environment.

To address this issue, the SOL association offers support to women without an agricultural background in developing their farm installation projects. Women will receive comprehensive training, enhancing their agricultural skills, economic management abilities for their farms, and environmental knowledge.

SOL
The association

Founded in 1980, SOL supports local initiatives in France, India, and West Africa to promote agroecology, organic farming, access to land, and biodiversity. With a network of partners rooted in their territories and a projected budget of nearly €913,000 in 2025, the association stands out for its ability to mobilize, connect, and raise awareness among diverse stakeholders around agricultural and social issues. SOL also has a strong knowledge base on gender issues in agriculture, which it aims to structure and share to strengthen advocacy and guide its future multi-country actions.
