Project presentation
In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, North Kivu has experienced extreme violence for many years, with women being the main victims. Stigmatised and often expelled from their homes after suffering sexual violence, many women do not dare to report these crimes due to fear, shame, and a lack of support or resources.
Already supported by the Foundation in 2015, Lysistrata’s project aims to provide medical, psychological, economic and legal support to 1,400 girls and women who are victims of sexual violence, through a platform bringing together experienced local organisations. The project also aims to strengthen these organisations and promote their autonomy, particularly in terms of financial independence.
