The women supported through this project face significant hardship due to their families’ economic and social circumstances, including poverty, unemployment, high birth rates, polygamy, illiteracy, and limited access to information about their rights and available services.
In partnership with Citoyen des rues Maroc pour la protection de la femme et de l’enfance, Citoyens des Rues France established a support center for street children. In response to the needs of the children’s mothers, a dedicated programme was later developed specifically for women.
The project aims to support vulnerable women in Sidi Boujida through vocational training and individualized guidance. The center offers both formal and informal activities as part of a comprehensive approach to addressing the multiple challenges these women face.
Informal activities include a writing workshop, computer training, literacy classes, and the “Women’s Café”, a space where women can meet and exchange ideas in an informal setting over coffee. Led by a social worker, these discussions encourage dialogue across different perspectives and cultural backgrounds. Beneficiaries also have access to psychological support, legal guidance, and family mediation services.
Alongside these activities, the women complete a two-year certified vocational training programme in sewing, pastry making, or hairdressing.
