Project presentation
Since 2019, the Centre for Information on Women’s and Family Rights (CIDFF) of Mayotte has implemented a comprehensive support program for vulnerable women, mainly from rural areas, to help them access employment and escape poverty. This program assists them in job searching, starting a business, or accessing vocational training.
The beneficiaries range in age from 16 to over 60, and two-thirds have very limited proficiency in the French language. They are also mostly without diplomas, employment, or qualifications. Additionally, the association has worked with several vulnerable women farmers, supporting them by purchasing part of their produce for “sweet baskets” and the community grocery. Every three months, the association organizes a “chat workshop,” where beneficiaries and CIDFF staff can review what is working well and the challenges faced.
