Project presentation
In 2021, only one-quarter of farm managers in France were women, who make up 30% of the agricultural workforce. Women farmers are often invisible in the sector or limited to domestic roles. They face specific challenges including land access, training, workload distribution, participation in decision-making, and balancing professional and private life, in addition to sexism and discrimination. Supporting women in agriculture is critical, particularly as they often drive the shift toward sustainable practices.
For several years, Réseau CIVAM, FADEAR, and SOL have worked to improve women’s inclusion in agriculture. In 2023, these three organisations will intensify collaboration to support female farmers and future farmers in their establishment, provide technical training, create peer exchange spaces, and highlight women’s contributions to agroecological transition. The project will take place in four departments: Marne, Ariège, Vaucluse, and Drôme.
