Multi-Country Pilot Project on Gender and Agriculture

Multi-Country Pilot Project on Gender and Agriculture

Projet soutenu Project supported in 2025 : Empowering Women

Project presentation

In many countries, women farmers face structural barriers limiting their access to land, financing, and training, even though they represent nearly half of the global agricultural workforce. To address these inequalities, SOL is undertaking pioneering research on the link between gender and agroecology to develop an operational strategy and a shared program across India, Senegal, and France.

The project combines in-depth research conducted with experts, the creation of educational tools for agricultural schools, and networking of engaged actors to strengthen the rights of women farmers. The goal is to structure knowledge, raise awareness broadly, and foster actions and alliances for more inclusive agriculture.

SOL
The association

Founded in 1980, SOL supports local initiatives in France, India, and West Africa promoting agroecology, organic farming, access to land, and biodiversity. With a network of locally rooted partners and a projected budget of nearly €913,000 in 2025, SOL is recognized for its capacity to mobilize, connect, and raise awareness among diverse stakeholders on agricultural and social issues. The organization has a strong knowledge base on gender in agriculture, which it seeks to structure and disseminate to strengthen advocacy and guide future multi-country initiatives.
