Project presentation

In Lyon, the association Réfugiés et Enseignement Supérieur supports exiled individuals in resuming their studies. In 2023, it identified a significant underrepresentation of women among its beneficiaries and conducted a study to identify the specific barriers they face in accessing higher education: social norms, family responsibilities, precarious living conditions, lack of information, and difficulties in diploma recognition.

In response, RES launched the “For Her” program in 2024, a dedicated initiative for exiled women combining individual support, collective workshops (mixed and women-only), safe discussion spaces, and advocacy actions targeting universities to promote childcare solutions and diploma recognition. The project aims to remove structural barriers, strengthen women’s autonomy, and support their academic and professional integration.
