To celebrate International Women’s Rights Day, the Ministry of Culture, the RAJA-Danièle Marcovici Foundation, and Cartooning for Peace joined forces for equality.
Exhibition #CartooningforWomen
This exhibition features editorial cartoons from around the world by the Cartooning for Peace network. It addresses women’s rights worldwide after the #MeToo movement, exploring key themes such as violence, women’s bodies, religion, parity, and feminism. While denouncing injunctions and violence against women, the exhibition offers diverse perspectives and supports feminist struggles with humor, irreverence, and the power of drawing.
The exhibition was hosted by the city of Angers and was on display from March 7 to 31 on the fences of the Jardin des Plantes and the Musée Pincé, as part of the French Presidency of the European Union and the France-Portugal Season 2022. On March 8, it was inaugurated within the framework of the EGALITE Forum during the walk of European ministers of culture.

Cartooning for Peace
The association Cartooning for Peace was founded in 2006 on the initiative of Kofi Annan, Nobel Peace Prize laureate and former UN Secretary-General, and the editorial cartoonist Plantu. Cartooning for Peace is an international network of cartoonists committed to promoting freedom of expression, human rights, and mutual respect among populations of different cultures and beliefs through the universal language of editorial cartoons. The association, currently chaired by the French cartoonist Kak, is recognized as serving the public interest.
