Project presentation
For the past 12 years, the association Chaussettes Orphelines has offered workshops to women in precarious situations, including those living in emergency shelters, to create clothing from unmatched socks collected through solidarity drives. Several of these women expressed a desire to train in sewing in order to turn it into a profession and permanently escape precarity.
The project enables women, as well as people with disabilities and young people distant from the job market, to participate in a comprehensive training program combining fabric/clothing recycling techniques, interpersonal skills, and support for professional integration. The training equips participants with the skills needed for jobs in the sewing sector (alterations or upcycling) or in logistics.
