Project presentation

In Martinique, the COVID-19 health crisis has hit even harder on women in extremely vulnerable situations, particularly women involved in prostitution. The cost of baby diapers and personal hygiene products weighs heavily on the budgets of these vulnerable families, who often have to forgo them and prioritize food.

The “Patchwork” project, led by the association D’Antilles et D’Ailleurs, addresses these issues by offering 25 women professional support to help them sustainably exit prostitution, through training in sewing. The women will receive specialized training in making reusable diapers and sanitary products. In parallel, they will be guided to capitalize on the skills acquired during training so that they can find stable employment.
