On December 4, 2023, the RAJA-Danièle Marcovici Foundation, in partnership with the BNP Paribas Foundation, Synergies Migrations, and the Institut Convergences Migrations, organized a conference at the Théâtre Chaillot on the visibility of migrant women. The event brought together companies, public actors, NGOs, journalists, specialists, and women in exile to share experiences and discuss the challenges they face.

The conference highlighted the double marginalization of migrant women, the violence they experience before, during, and after migration, and the obstacles to integration and pursuing personal and professional projects. Testimonies from speakers such as Ghada Hatem, Hélève Bonvalot, and Parasto Hakim emphasized the importance of appropriate psychological support and access to education and childcare services, including initiatives in Canada for first-time arrivals.

Participants such as Aïda Ghadar, Bernadette Rwegera, and Shayda Hessami denounced practices like forced marriage and the exclusion of women from peace negotiations, highlighting their commitment and resilience.

The conference also underscored the importance of public authorities’ involvement in supporting migrant women, complementing the initiatives of civil society.
