Project presentation
Since 2019, the Women’s and Family Rights Information Center (CIDFF) of Mayotte has implemented a comprehensive support program for vulnerable women, mainly from rural areas, to help them gain access to employment and escape poverty. This program assists them in job searching, starting a business, or accessing vocational training.
The beneficiaries range in age from 16 to over 60, and two-thirds have very limited proficiency in French. They are also mostly without diplomas, without work, and without qualifications. Moreover, the association has met several vulnerable women farmers, whom it supports by purchasing part of their produce for “sweet baskets” and the solidarity grocery store. Every three months, the association organizes a “chat workshop,” where beneficiaries and CIDFF staff have the opportunity to review what is working and discuss difficulties.
