Project presentation
In Siem Reap, Cambodia, the rapidly growing tourism industry is boosting the city’s economic development and attracting many rural families seeking better living conditions. However, members of these families often face difficulties accessing training centers or finding stable, well-paid employment, and are frequently forced to work on the streets, where they are exposed to violence, drugs, and prostitution.
To address this issue, Friends International launched a pilot training restaurant project called “Let’s Eat” in 2016, aimed at supporting single mothers in gaining employment through a comprehensive training program, which the organization now seeks to renew once again. This program includes both theoretical courses (management, accounting, etc.) and practical training (hygiene standards, food preparation, customer service, etc.), as well as support for starting income-generating activities.
It enables women to quickly acquire professional skills and workplace attitudes, helping them integrate into the labor market and achieve financial independence.
