Project presentation

In Burkina Faso, 80% of the working population relies on agriculture for its livelihood. In the country’s Central-West region—affected by terrorist violence and the impacts of climate change—farmers, and particularly women, face extreme economic vulnerability.

The project Burkina Bees – Solidarity Beekeeping, led by the NGO LAAFI, aims to train around one hundred rural women living in precarious conditions in the beekeeping profession. Equipped with beekeeping materials, the women will receive support to develop their own small-scale operations. After several years, each beekeeper is expected to produce approximately 25 kilograms of honey per year and earn a monthly income of around €50.

The project thus contributes directly to the economic empowerment of women while supporting biodiversity through the activity of bees.
