Project presentation

The mobile application The Sorority, created by the association The Sorority Foundation, aims to meet the urgent need for rapid support by providing a platform for mutual aid for women and gender minorities. The app allows users to locate nearby members available to provide immediate assistance in case of danger, ranging from moral support to intervention in situations of harassment or violence. An alert button quickly notifies the first 50 users nearby, who can contact, reach, or alert the authorities on behalf of the person in danger.

The Sorority also integrates victim support organizations into its map to facilitate access to existing local services and identifies “safe places” (shops, offices, restaurants, etc.) where victims can take refuge. These locations are verified, and their staff are trained to welcome and protect victims, in collaboration with partners such as France Victime.

The Sorority Foundation, founded in 2021 by Priscillia Routier-Trillard, develops technological solidarity tools to support women and gender minorities in danger. In 2024, the association has a budget of €179,000 and a team of 5 staff members. App profiles are verified through ID and selfie checks, and monthly drills ensure the proper use of the alert system.
