Project presentation
In France, women are particularly vulnerable on the streets and are largely underrepresented in homelessness statistics. To address this need, the association Le Filon, founded in 2016 and based in western Paris, provides a daytime center for women experiencing precarity, housing insecurity, or psychological difficulties. The goal is to offer a safe space, social and legal support, and activities aimed at personal and social reconstruction.
The project focuses on several areas: raising awareness among the general public and local residents to reduce isolation, providing personalized physical and mental health support with daily workshops (sports, cooking, nutrition, art therapy, self-defense, manicure, massage), French as a foreign language courses aiming for B2 level, as well as cultural outings and artistic projects. The association collaborates with the Mobile Precarity and Psychiatry Team (EMPP) and ensures regular follow-up by a psychologist. Le Filon also works on measuring the impact of its actions to demonstrate their effectiveness and improve the quality of support.
In 2025, the association plans to move to a larger space to accommodate more women (increasing from 70 to 100 per year) and potentially develop a social enterprise project to secure sustainable funding.
