Project presentation

Despite the recent enshrinement of abortion rights in the French Constitution, many women still face major obstacles in accessing it: clinic closures, territorial inequalities, lack of trained professionals, and misinformation spread by anti-choice movements.

To address this situation, Le Planning Familial is implementing a one-year project to put abortion back at the center of public debate. The project includes publishing a barometer on access to abortion, organizing an advocacy network ahead of the 50th anniversary of the Veil Law, creating educational tools for institutions, and launching a communication campaign featuring women’s testimonies. The goal is to ensure effective, fair, and equal access to this fundamental right.

Le Planning Familial
The association

Founded in 1956, Le Planning Familial is a feminist and popular education organization committed to sexual and reproductive rights. With 80 branches across France, 1,200 staff, and hundreds of volunteers, it operates both on the ground (support, listening, and guidance) and in the political sphere, amplifying the voices of women and affected individuals. In addition to advocacy work, it manages the national IVG Contraception Sexuality helpline, a website, and a chat service, assisting nearly 450,000 people annually. Its model relies primarily on public funding (over 95% of its budget).
