Project presentation
In Burkina Faso, the taboo surrounding menstruation hinders the social and professional empowerment of girls and women, who are considered impure during this period.
In response to this situation, the Movement France association aims to provide a sustainable solution through the project “P3 Protect Paga Period”: a workshop for producing reusable sanitary pad kits made by women in precarious situations. These women will receive five months of sewing training and will be supported in learning accounting, raw material and stock management, as well as marketing techniques.
The development of an affordable and sustainable hygiene solution will have multiple positive impacts—reducing absenteeism at school and work, decreasing infection issues related to poor sanitary conditions or the use of traditional protection methods (newspaper, mud, leaves)—and will thus improve the living conditions of girls and women while promoting their social and professional empowerment.
