Project presentation
In many countries affected by conflict or authoritarian regimes, committed women — activists, journalists, and human rights defenders — face threats because of their beliefs and actions. In the absence of legal migration pathways, many are forced to take dangerous routes into exile, exposing them to trafficking, sexual violence, and other forms of gender-based violence.
In response to these risks, the organization Synergies Migrations coordinates a multi-stakeholder programme aimed at opening safe and regular migration pathways to France for exiled women activists, while ensuring comprehensive support upon their arrival.
The project is based on the reception of women human rights defenders through the humanitarian corridors mechanism, implemented in partnership with the Fédération de l’Entraide Protestante. Drawing on operational expertise in Lebanon and France, this mechanism enables the identification of women at risk, the preparation of their administrative applications, their safe evacuation, and the organization of their reception and social, legal, and human support in France.
The programme addresses the specific needs of these women, particularly in terms of protection, mental health support, and access to a secure environment that allows them to rebuild their personal trajectories and pursue their commitments in safe and dignified conditions.
