Structuring a European Mobilization to Protect Women’s Rights Online
In 2025, the Fondation RAJA-Danièle Marcovici supported a major initiative led by the Coordination française pour le Lobby Européen des Femmes (CLEF) and Osez le Féminisme, aimed at strengthening the fight against sexist and sexual cyber-violence across Europe. In the context of the growing digitalization of violence against women, this support enabled the creation of a sustainable transnational dynamic, bringing together civil society, legal experts, and European institutions.
Thanks to the funding from the Fondation RAJA-Danièle Marcovici, an international conference was held in Strasbourg in February 2025, bringing together over 120 participants from eight European Union member states. This foundational event identified common legislative priorities, produced expert resources, and strengthened alliances among feminist organizations committed to combating sexual exploitation and online violence.
The mobilization continued throughout the year through coordinated European-level advocacy actions in partnership with the European Women’s Lobby. The adoption and dissemination of the Strasbourg Call, the publication of thematic advocacy briefs, and a European institutional campaign in October 2025 helped raise awareness among policymakers, media, and civil society about the specific challenges of online sexual and gender-based violence (cyberVSS) and the responsibility of digital platforms.
By supporting this project with €15,000, the Fondation RAJA-Danièle Marcovici contributed to fostering a genuine European momentum against sexist and sexual cyber-violence.
