Project presentation

In the context of prolonged insecurity in northeast Nigeria, where displaced women and girls are highly exposed to conflict-related sexual violence, WWoW implements a comprehensive program to improve survivor care.

In partnership with the Grassroots Researchers Association (GRA), the organization strengthens local actors’ capacities, creates a dedicated safe space in Maiduguri, and conducts community awareness campaigns. The project combines specialized training, psychosocial and legal support, enhancement of digital tools (including BackUp), and mobilization of survivors to break taboos. The goal is to establish sustainable practices for support, violence documentation, and service coordination.

The association

Founded in 2014, WWoW specializes in combatting sexual violence during war and crises. It relies on innovative digital tools, a network of experts, and local partnerships to support survivors and promote their rights. WWoW created BackUp, a reporting and documentation platform used in multiple countries. In Nigeria, it works closely with GRA, ensuring community anchoring, operational support, and project implementation. With recognized expertise and a long-term strategy, WWoW plans to expand its model, open a second safe space, and consolidate integration of its practices into local public policies.
