Project presentation

In Vietnam, gender hierarchy in society, partly influenced by Confucianism, normalizes violence and fosters victim-blaming and stigmatization. Despite the development of national policies aimed at promoting gender equality and eliminating violence against women, their impact on the ground remains limited: two out of three women in Vietnam have experienced at least one form of violence, and fewer than 10% have sought help.

To address this issue, the Hy Vong project, implemented in Hanoi, aims to prevent gender-based violence and protect victims by strengthening existing support mechanisms for survivors of all forms of violence. This includes the 24/7 hotline managed by CSAGA, BATIK International’s local partner, giving survivors a direct channel for support. The project also amplifies survivors’ voices to raise societal awareness and engages young people through education and training on gender issues and violence prevention. In addition, BATIK International supports advocacy efforts by national networks directed at public authorities to combat violence against women.
