Project presentation

In the Doufalgou region of Togo, women are particularly affected by food insecurity, exacerbated by poverty, climate change, and agricultural constraints. In partnership with the Togolese association APECA, Morija supports 30 vulnerable women over three years to optimize household gardens, cultivate highly nutritious plants such as moringa and baobab, and develop income-generating activities.

The project integrates technical and practical training, a farmer field school for learning sustainable agricultural methods, and a women-led community savings system to financially support local initiatives. Together, these actions aim to strengthen women’s economic and food resilience while encouraging their active participation in community life.

Morija
The association

Founded in 1997 and based in Haute-Savoie, Morija, supports vulnerable populations, particularly in rural areas of sub-Saharan Africa (Burkina Faso, Chad, Cameroon, and Togo). The association brings expertise in nutrition and works closely with local partners to implement projects tailored to community needs. For this initiative, APECA—a Togolese association founded by rural women—leads on-the-ground implementation, while Morija ensures coordination and performance monitoring.
