Project presentation
In Namibia, the capacity of public authorities to respond to cases of violence against women and children is inadequate due to, among other factors, a lack of trained personnel, the absence of appropriate strategies, and limited access to information on human rights within communities. The situation is particularly severe in informal settlements, where protection mechanisms for women and children are virtually nonexistent.

To address this issue, the François-Xavier Bagnoud Association and its local partner HISA Namibia are working to reduce gender-based violence and empower local populations. Their approach includes conducting in-depth assessments of community needs, training community members on human rights, and strengthening their capacity to support women and children who are survivors of violence.
These actions will contribute to reinforcing protection systems for women and children and improving violence-prevention mechanisms in informal settlements. At the same time, 2,500 men and boys from the communities will be sensitized to gender-based violence and will become ambassadors for positive masculinity.
