Project presentation

The association Grdr – Migration, Citizenship, Development proposes, over a three-year period and in partnership with the cities of Sevran (93), Corbeil-Essonnes (91) and Sarcelles (95), to support women engaged in informal culinary activities and accompany them in their socio-professional integration. These cities share common characteristics: precarious populations (poverty rates between 26% and 33%), often with immigrant backgrounds (between 27% and 35%).

The support will notably involve the creation, in each city, of an association bringing together the beneficiaries, enabling them to subsequently provide catering services. The municipalities will make premises and kitchens available to these associations. The women, the majority of whom are immigrants, will also receive long-term support tailored to their needs (housing, French language courses, access to rights, parenting support, etc.).

A similar project, co-financed by the foundation, was piloted in Grigny in 2021 by Grdr. Through comprehensive and tailored support, women are able to overcome the main barriers that previously prevented them from accessing formal employment (knowledge of French, housing, access to rights). In addition, by learning how to develop and manage a project and by working collectively, they regain confidence in themselves and in their skills.

The association

Founded in 1969, Grdr Migration-Citizenship-Development is one of the few organizations implementing development initiatives both in countries of origin, transit, and destination (West Africa, the Maghreb and France). The Île-de-France branch works on access to rights, socio-professional integration and entrepreneurship for migrants, as well as training and action research.
