Projet soutenu Project supported in 2025: Women & Environment

Project presentation

At the heart of Sariska National Park in India, three marginalised tribal communities live in harmony with local wildlife, including tigers, which they help to protect. In order to improve their living conditions, women from these communities sought the support of the organisation Poh Kao and its local partner Kapravis to structure their dairy production activities.

The project involves the creation of two milk-processing cooperatives (producing butter and traditional milk-based sweets), fully managed by women. In addition, beneficiaries will receive training in cooperative management, animal health and hygiene practices. This model will generate sustainable income, strengthen women’s economic autonomy and promote a way of life that respects biodiversity.

Poh Kao
The association

Founded in 2006, Poh Kao is an international solidarity organisation working in areas of high biodiversity across Asia. Its mission is to reconcile human development with the protection of wildlife, particularly tigers. The organisation draws on expertise in agriculture, livestock farming and animal health, and works in close partnership with local communities.

In India, Poh Kao collaborates with Kapravis, a local NGO that has been supporting minority communities in Rajasthan for over 20 years. Together, they develop projects rooted in respect for traditions, the promotion of local know-how and the economic empowerment of women.
