Project presentation
In Burkina Faso, 80% of the active population work in agriculture. In the country’s Centre-West region, affected by waves of terrorist violence and climate change, farmers—especially women—find themselves in situations of extreme economic vulnerability.
The project “Burkina Bees: Solidarity Beekeeping”, led by the association LAAFI, aims to train around one hundred rural women in precarious situations to become beekeepers. Equipped with beekeeping materials, they will be supported in developing their small-scale apiaries. After several years, each beekeeper is expected to produce approximately 25 kilograms of honey per year and earn a monthly income of €50. The project thus contributes to the economic empowerment of women.
