Project presentation

In Senegal, people with disabilities have very limited access to basic services and are often socially isolated. Women with disabilities, in particular, face significant barriers to professional integration and frequently live on the margins of society. Subjected to double discrimination—both as women and as persons with disabilities—they experience especially precarious living conditions.

In response to this situation, the Women’s Committee of the Regional Federation of Persons with Disabilities (CF) has opened a centre dedicated to the vocational training of women with disabilities in the Thiès region. The centre aims to welcome women, inform them of their rights, and provide them with training that enables them to engage in income-generating activities and achieve financial independence.

The project is implemented locally by the Women’s Committee and supported by the French NGO Sukhali. Jointly designed by both organisations, the initiative seeks to sustainably improve the socio-economic status of the women supported by the centre.

Sukhali’s mission is to support Senegalese women who wish to engage in sustainable income-generating activities, with a particular focus on the most disadvantaged women, notably through the provision of microcredit loans. The organisation also promotes literacy programmes to enable women to participate fully in local economic and cultural development.
