Project presentation

Guinée Éducation Biotechnologie (GEB) supports the private Danouwely nursery and primary school in the rural city of Mamou, which faces a 23-point drop in girls’ enrollment between kindergarten and Grade 5 (from 58% to 35%). The project includes awareness workshops for girls and families, in partnership with the Young Girls Leaders Club, financial support for the schooling of the most disadvantaged girls, and the establishment of a medical reception point within the school. In Guinea, only 45.7% of girls (compared with 62.7% of boys) complete primary education. Access to education is even more difficult in rural areas, where approximately 80% of girls do not finish school. By combining financial support and educational workshops for children and parents, the project seeks to change mindsets and advance gender equality.
