Project presentation
In Grigny, in the Essonne region, dozens of immigrant women living in precarious situations make a living by cooking meals that they sell informally on the forecourt of the city’s RER train station. This group of women expressed two key needs: on the one hand, support in transitioning towards a sustainable professional activity; on the other, guidance towards social services, of which they are often poorly informed.

To address these specific needs, GRDR runs the project Les Mamas de Grigny, which aims to strengthen the women’s technical skills in cooking as well as their project management skills. Organised as a collective, the women prepare meals that are then sold to people facing the greatest social and economic hardship. A solidarity-based restaurant, co-managed by the women and GRDR, is scheduled to open by the end of the year.
