Collective Action
The RAJA Danièle Marcovici Foundation believes in the power of collective action. By joining coalitions and alliances in France and Europe, the Foundation works alongside other actors to defend women's rights, promote gender equality and respond together to major social and environmental challenges.
Taking action against the rise of anti-gender movements and the decline of democracy
Between 2019 and 2023, anti-gender movements in Europe raised US$1.18 billion, almost double what they had raised in the previous decade. According to the European Parliamentary Forum’s (EPF) 2025 report The Next Wave, more than 80% of this funding comes from European actors, with increased support from the United States and Russia. This money fuels an organized network of non-governmental organizations (NGOs), think tanks and political parties seeking to restrict the rights of women and gender minorities, particularly targeting access to abortion, sexual and reproductive health, and minority rights. Faced with this rise in anti-rights and anti-gender movements and a significant decline in public funding, the RAJA-Danièle Marcovici Foundation aims to contribute to the revival of feminist philanthropy.

Advancing women’s rights collectively
In 2023, the Fondation RAJA-Danièle Marcovici partnered with 12 French philanthropic organizations to launch the Coalition for Feminist Philanthropy (CPF). This initiative aims to increase the visibility of gender equality within philanthropy, mobilize greater resources in support of women’s and girls’ rights, and strengthen collective impact by pooling expertise and actions. The CPF notably commissioned Agence Phare to conduct the first study on the place of gender equality in French philanthropy, in order to better identify, quantify, and understand the funding dedicated to this cause. Published in 2025, the study reveals that gender equality accounts for only 7% of total philanthropic funding, representing €140 million per year.
It is through cooperation and collective action that we will be able to defend women’s rights, promote equality, and tackle together the major challenges of our time.
