The RAJA Group and the Foundation are committed for women and the environment

The European Sustainable Development Week, organized every year from May 30th to June 5th, is a key moment of awareness-raising and promotion of initiatives for development that respects natural resources and populations, all over the world. Environmental protection and the fight against climate change are central themes for the Foundation and the RAJA Group, which have been mobilized since 2015, to reinforce and highlight the key role of women in biodiversity conservation.

In order to reaffirm its support for associations that are leading exemplary actions in strengthening the role of women in environmental protection, Danièle Kapel-Marcovici presented on June 4th, during a day of workshops on sustainable development held at the Group’s headquarters, two “Women & the Environment Coup de Coeur” awards of €15,000 each.

  • The France award was granted to Stéphanie Pageot, organic farmer and administrator of the association, to reward the National Federation of Organic Agriculture and its project “Women and Organic Agriculture” in France.

We would like to thank the Foundation for this award, which will allow us to continue our support for women organic farmers, particularly through the release of the “Becoming an Organic Farmer” installation guide, published in February 2019 with the support of the Foundation. Be sure that we won’t stop there!” Stéphanie Pageot

  • Leslie Gomez, partnership officer, received the International award on behalf of Entrepreneurs du Monde for the project “Fostering access to microcredit and providing cost-effective and clean cookstoves for women owned street restaurants to enable them to develop their business” in Haiti.

Our partnership with the Foundation is strong as we have been working together since 2013. We are delighted to receive this award for our project of support of women who own street restaurants. This award will allow us to continue to support them, empower them while preserving their health and protecting the environment.” Leslie Gomez

Danièle Kapel-Marcovici concluded this award ceremony: “The protection of the environment is essential. That is why we are taking action not only to highlight the key role of women in the fight against climate change, but also to ensure that women are better taken into account in environmental protection programs.
